The movie follows a young French student who goes on a treasure hunt near the coast of Corsica after hearing a lecture about Phoenician treasure lost at sea. There he meets Manina, the light-keeper's daughter, who helps him find the treasure.
That description worked if you were not in the UK at that time. Their version was more like a French student goes to Corsica, finds a treasure, the end. Apparently, UK censors cut some 29 minutes of the movie, mostly Bardot’s bikini scenes.
A couple of comments on imdb also mention that one of the most Bardot’s photos was taken during the filming of the movie, showing her fully naked lying on a beach. The original photo was probably taken in B&W and was later colorized.
